How does the fair split actually work?
You each enter your income. Monio weights every shared expense by those incomes, so whoever earns more covers a proportionally larger share — or you set any expense to 50/50 or a custom split. The two shares always add up to 100%.
Do we both need an account?
Yes — that's the point. One of you creates the household and invites the other with a single link. You both see the same expenses, goals, and settle-up in real time.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
The trial starts when you add a card, and nothing is charged during it. When day 14 passes, your chosen plan begins automatically. Cancel any time before then and you're never charged; cancel later and Pro stays on until the end of the period you already paid for.
Do I need a card to use Monio?
Not for the Free plan — sign up with just an email and use it as long as you like. A card is only needed to start the 14-day Pro trial, and it isn't charged until the trial ends.
Is my financial data private?
Your data is only ever shown to you and your household partner. We never sell it or share it with advertisers. Card payments are handled by Stripe — we never store your full card number.
Can I use it on my phone?
